USS English, flagship of DesRon 62

Late in World War II, as they commissioned and fleeted in, the 2200-tonners were organized into squadrons numbered 60 and higher. As with lower-numbered squadrons, a squadron was normally commanded by a captain who also commanded a division—commonly the lower-numbered one.
   Initial organization was as shown in the lists below. Brackets indicate apparently-intended organization where divisions were not completely formed by the end of 1945.
