Although all 175 Fletcher-class ships retained a similar appearance throughout World War II, thanks to the preferences of chief petty officers, it is probable that no two were exactly the same very long after they left the builder.
   In this section, we present representative ships to illustrate how they appeared during their careers, plus selected ships in detail.
