The USS Slater Destroyer Escort Historical Museum, 141 Broadway Albany, NY 12202 (telephone 518-431-1943) is located on the Hudson Riverfront of New York’s state capital.
Returned from Greece in 1993, Slater has been undergoing restoration led since 1999 by Tim Rizzuto, former ship superintendent of USS Kidd in Baton Rouge, and today stands as the most authentic World War II destroyer restoration.
Slater faces upriver with her port side to shore during summer months and in winter is towed across the river to a berth at Rensselaer.
