The Tin Can Sailors Library is located in Somerset, Massachusetts, across the Taunton River from Fall River’s Battleship Cove (home of the destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr.) and a half-hour drive from the excellent facility at the United States Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.

The library occupies approximately 3,400 square feet. It is temperature and humidity controlled according to the standards of the American Library Association.

The library houses a varied collection of materials including books and other publications, prints, posters and ship crest plaques and an extensive collection of microfilm, microfiche and aperture cards. It has an attractive research area, where visitors may set up computers and scanners within easy reach of the stacks, and an archival area with reader for the microfilm, etc. with equipment for digitizing it to file or to print.

Although Tin Can Sailors does not operate a museum, there are a number of artifacts and some ship models on display plus posters from recent ship commissioning ceremonies.
