The purposes of the Destroyer History Foundation are to perpetuate interest in US Navy destroyer history by preserving and making accessible records, accounts, images and other artifacts that might otherwise be lost when US Navy destroyer veterans pass on.
It is an outgrowth of this web site, an on-line museum prepared in collaboration with
shipmates, organizations, active duty naval officers and others. Other items too large to present on the web,

Dave McComb
At Buka, April 2005.

such as the complete Fletcher-class engineering drawings from Bath Iron Works and the complete published works of researcher Andrew Wilde, are available on disk.
Recent articles include “Indispensable in Every Operation” and “Destroyers at Tokyo Bay” in the February 2006 issue of the U.S. Naval Institute’s Naval History; and ship histories “The Lucky L,” “The Terrible T” and “The Galloping Mac” in The Tin Can Sailor. Events include a commemorative event at
Pearl Harbor in 2005 attended by 240 World War II destroyermen, family members and friends, and speaking engagements during World War II history cruises to the Solomon and Philippine Islands on the ship Clipper Odyssey.
   The overall list of
contributors to this effort is already long. Great ships; wonderful stories; fine friends—thank you all for sharing and for all your kindnesses along the way. — Dave
