There were six nuclear guided missile frigates.
Bainbridge, the first, carried the same armament as the Leahy class; Truxtun, the second, carried the same armament as the Belknap class.
   The series continued with the two California-class frigates and the first two of four ships of the Virginia class (the last two Virginias were laid down after the first two were redesignated guided missle cruisers, and were never themselves given the DLGN designation).
