There were six nuclear-powered guided missile frigates (DLGN).
Bainbridge, the first, carried the same armament as the Leahy class; Truxtun, the second, carried the same armament as the Belknap class.
The series continued with two California-class frigates, California and South Carolina, and the first two of four ships of the Virginia class, Virginia and Texas. (The last two Virginias, Mississippi and Arkansas, laid down after the first two were redesignated guided missle cruisers; were never designated DLGN).
